'Essential' resurfacing works are to begin on the A6071 in Brampton.

The works are scheduled to start on Sunday, October 20, until Friday, October 25.

The work will take place daily from 7.00am to 6.00pm, weather permitting, which may result in last-minute changes.

During this time, the A6071 will be closed from The Sands (in Brampton), on the Newcastle Road, to the A69 junction for the entire duration.

A clearly marked diversion route will be in place, and all road users are advised to follow the signage and plan their journeys accordingly.

To minimise disruption for local residents and businesses, traffic marshals will be on site to safely escort people through the works when possible. However, short delays may occur depending on ongoing site activities.

Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the works, as well as waste collections.

The 685 bus service will not serve Brampton Sands. Instead, the service will be diverted via Carlisle Road in both directions, before rejoining the A69 following stops at Shoulder of Mutton/Cranstons.

Regular routing is expected to resume with the first service on Monday 28 October. Passengers are advised that delays may occur due to the diversion and potential increases in traffic and should contact Stagecoach with any queries.
