A bestselling author is set to 'put fire in your belly' at an evening at Carlisle's Bookends this November.
Award-winning writer and psychologist Dr Sharon Blackie, who lives in Cumbria, will be giving a talk on "Wise Women" at Cakes and Ale cafe on Wednesday, November 6.
Dr Blackie will be discussing her collection of retold myths and folk tales celebrating the wisdom and power of women in midlife and beyond.
In a post on social media, Bookends wrote: " Ungainly giantesses. Sequin-strewn fairy godmothers. Misunderstood witches. Fierce grandmothers. Hairy-chinned hags. Craggy crones, all the ingredients for a dazzling evening.
"The talk is sure to put fire in your belly and reconnect you to your inner magic."
She is also known for her book 'Hagitude: Reclaiming the Second Half of Life', which explores the potential and vitality of women beyond middle age.
Book lovers and those interested in Dr Blackie's work can purchase tickets for £6, which includes a drink.
A combined ticket for the event and a book is available for £22 and also includes a drink.
