A Cumbrian MP has described how honoured he was to receive an OBE for his work with children in care.
Josh MacAlister, MP for Whitehaven and Workington, received an OBE from Princess Anne on Friday for work he did before the election took place.
He led the government's independent review into England's children's care sector which looked at the entire process from referral to care straight through to when a child leaves care.
He said: "It was an honour to receive an OBE today for my work with children in care prior to the election.
"I accepted it on behalf of all the fantastic people I did that work alongside to fight for a better future for all our children."
He spoke to Princess Anne about her own work supporting children in care as well as the new wing at the West Cumberland Infirmary.
