Eden Police has reassured Alston residents regarding a dangerous dog concern.
Specialist police dog handlers visited an address in the Leadgate area of the town to examine two dogs that seemed to be 'bully' types.
They have confirmed that the dogs are not of the XL Bully breed and have provided handling and safeguarding advice to the owner.
A law came into effect earlier this year stating that it is a criminal offence to own an XL Bully dog without an exemption due to concerns of the breed being involved in the deaths of a number of people.
