We're highlighting the shortlisted curry houses in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.

Star Anise has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Curry House 2024' award.

The restaurant, bar, and takeaway, is located on Brampton's Main Street and is owned by Abul Kalam and Aida Dainyte and managed by Kamrul Manna, with the business startings nearly four years ago in 2020.

After being informed that Star Anise had been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Curry House 2024' award, Kamrul was on hand to express his delight.

He said: "I am very happy to hear that people wanted to put Star Anise forward for this award.

"We work so hard to give our customers fresh food and we don't use lots of artificial colours and we have also got some vegan options so we try and cater to everybody.

"We also cook to order, we don't sell pre-cooked food and I think that is what makes our customers happy."

Kamrul also explained how Star Anise takes pride in sharing its food and making its customers happy.

"I enjoy being able to share my traditional Bangladeshi food with people and getting good feedback from people on our food.

"People here in Brampton love our food and love what we do and it makes us happy when we see customers happy.

"All we try to do is make them satisfied with our food and our service.

"We also get a lot of good feedback from people who are visiting Brampton from other counties and other cities which is also something that I love.

"It is thanks to our customers and their support and feedback that we have been able to keep going for as long as we have."
