The Bari at Bird in hand has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Curry House 2024' award.
The restaurant, which is located in Oulton near Wigton, is owned by Rousham Bari who started her business in Carlisle before moving to the village in 2020.
After being informed that the Bari at Bird in Hand had been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Curry House 2024' award, Rousham was on hand to express her delight.
She said: "I am delighted to have been nominated for this award.
"It means a lot to me that our customers wanted to put us forward for this.
"I think people enjoy our food because it is authentic and it is amazing to be nominated for this award by our customers."
Rousham also discussed in more detail why she believes her customers love the Bari so much, from its friendly atmosphere to its commitment to authentic food.
She said: "I think people love that I use different spices and my food is authentic and special.
"We get a lot of good feedback and everyone likes my food.
"My favourite thing about owning my restaurant is being able to share my food with people.
"I love to make curry and love it when people enjoy my food.
"I think people like our restaurant as well, it has a really nice atmosphere but I think the most important thing is that people like our food and like the way we cook.
