Cumbria Police share tips for Carlisle residents about cold callers following concerned calls.
Carlisle Police received a number of calls on Thursday from residents worried about cold callers operating in the Harraby and Garlands areas of the city.
Officers have verified that the group were legitimate after checking their credentials against national databases.
In response to the concerns, they have shared the following tips for anybody who is concerned about staying safe.
-
Never allow people you don't know into your home without a prior appointment
-
Look out for vulnerable family members and neighbours
-
Don't be afraid to ask for ID
-
If something feels off, it generally is.
They encourage residents to report any concerns around pushy business practices to the police via 101 or Trading Standards on the Trading Standards website.
