A new business offering nail services, waxing and massages has officially launched in Carlisle.

Samantha McGlasson has started her own business - B. By Sam - after finishing her qualifications.

The mum-of-two has always done her own gel manicures but it was an ADHD diagnosis that kickstarted her ambitions of a career in the health and beauty sector.

She enrolled in a waxing course in January and has been studying for her massage qualification for the past six months, having already qualified in a full nail technician's course in August.

She said: "B. By Sam has been in talks with my husband for a good year. After being diagnosed with ADHD last year it was a real moment of realisation where I thought ok what can I do where I can be creative but also provide for my family, and here we are."

Her new business, which is based at 43 Cecil Street within House of Envy, has proven very popular with new clients in its first few weeks, and while she only offers nail services for now, massage and waxing work is on the horizon.

Samantha added: "The response has been absolutely amazing, I have thoroughly enjoyed every client I have had in my chair and I have been really busy."

While it's early days in the business, Samantha hopes that she can continue to grow and also pass on her skills to others in the industry soon.

She said: "My hopes for the business are that I will always provide the best quality in my services by continuing to grow my education and knowledge. I would love to become an educator in a few years.

"You're never too old to step into something new, there will always be what ifs, but the biggest one is what if it works!"
