A CARLISLE activist group has claimed that 'local racists are trying to create a climate of fear over the border'.
Carlisle Against Racism said it is preparing to send activists to Dumfries to counter what they claim is a planned anti-immigration protest over the weekend.
The group held a prominent demonstration in Carlisle city centre earlier this year in response to riots seen nationwide and engaged in countering an anti-refugee protest last year.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are aware of planned protests in Dumfries on Saturday, October 26, 2024, which will be policed appropriately.”
