THE work of an innovative and well-known Cumbrian artist will be sold at auction in Carlisle in November.
Paul Hardcastle was primarily a ceramicist and sculptor but he worked across a wide range of forms to create art that was exhibited at galleries and venues across the country.
His work was strongly influenced by African art and he spent long periods in Gambia, Senegal, and Kenya working with local artists.
When creating ceramics, he used rich colours and striking designs which left them with a "timeless quality."
Paul was a mentor for many and a "unique figure in northern arts."
The auction will take place on November 11 at The Saleroom on Marconi Road in Carlisle.
It will also be available online via www.thomsonroddick.com.
