There was an unusual call out for Keswick Mountain Rescue Team in the Lake District last weekend, after a walker found what he believed to be a hand grenade.
On October 25, Keswick MRT were asked to escort police officers to the location after a walker found what he believed was an hand grenade on the side of Catbells.
Details of the object were recorded by the police who then passed the information on to the relevant authorities who subsequently dealt with the matter.
The incident involved eight team members and took two hours and 43 minutes to complete.
Cumbria Police have later confirmed to the News & Star that while the member of the public believed it could have been an explosive of some kind, it was located and assessed not to be.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was contacted but attendance was not required.
