We're highlighting the shortlisted curry houses in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.
Cafe Taj Indian Takeaway has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Curry House 2024' award.
The takeaway is located on Wigton's King Street and is owned by Md Ashadujjaman, who opened his business in 2023.
After being informed that Cafe Taj had been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Curry House 2024' award, Md said: "We are so happy to be delighted
"It means a lot to me that our customers wanted to put us forward for this award.
For Md, serving his customers quality food is not a job but a passion and explained his love for not only his work but the connections he has made with his customers who since he opened his takeaway have become like family members for him.
He said: "We always do our best and we always try and make our customers happy.
"We always want to serve the best food bout our main vision is to make customers happy because I know a lot of them personally and I treat them like my family.
"I know what they love but I also like to recommend new food to them and it makes me happy when they like my recommendation.
"We always use the best produce to make sure that we serve the best food. I love to serve people and I love to communicate with people.
"This is not just a job, this is my passion."
The finalists have been vying for votes from the public for nearly a week now - and you can submit yours by picking up a copy of the News and Star before Saturday, November 9.
