We're highlighting the shortlisted curry houses in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.
Taste of Asia has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Curry House 2024' award.
The restaurant, which specialises in pan-Asian cuisine, is located on Carlisle's London Road and is co-owned by Shama Ail Goliyadi alongside her husband.
The pair started their business in December 2023.
The finalists have been vying for votes from the public for nearly a week now - and you can submit yours by picking up a copy of the News & Star before Saturday, November 9.
After being informed that the Taste of Asia had been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Curry House 2024' award, Shama said: "We are very happy to be put forward for this award by our customers.
"It is quite surprising actually as we have only been in business for a short period of time."
Despite specialising in not only Indian cuisine but also other popular cuisines such as Thai, Japanese, and Chinese, Shama expressed her belief that it is Taste of Asia's great flavors and service that has made it a local favourite in just under 12 months.
She said: "I think our service and our food is very authentic, we are a pan-Asian restaurant so we have an influence of Indian cuisine and Oriental cuisine which comes from my partner who is Hong Kong Chinese.
"I think what our customers like is that in the same setting, they can get Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food which is not really available anywhere else in Carlisle.
"Every single person that has eaten at our restaurant has enjoyed the flavours in our food.
"My father was a restaurateur for a large part of his life and this is part of keeping his legacy moving on and we love serving people in Carlisle our food."
If you want to vote for the Taste of Asia as the region's best curry house, then make sure you get your copy of the News & Star before November 9.
