A Carlisle lawyer is taking on a tough challenge to help fight cancer.
Nick Kennon, managing director of Wragg Mark-Bell Solicitors, has been doing 100 push-ups every day in October to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He will end the month by doing 1,000 push-ups on October 31.
Mr Kennon, 52, was once a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves and was in peak physical fitness.
He served as commanding officer of the Fourth Battalion, the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, and went to Iraq and Afghanistan.
But since catching Covid he has had some long-term health problems, making this challenge harder for him than it previously would have been.
Mr Kennon said: "Long Covid has stopped me from doing a lot in the last couple of years but I decided it would not stop me completing this challenge.
"A few years ago I did 1,000 push-ups in one day for another great charity and my intention is to finish this challenge in the same way for Cancer Research.
"I know it will leave me exhausted for days, maybe weeks, but it’s the least I can do to raise funds for this worthy charity."
Almost half of the population will get cancer at some point in their lives.
Over the last 50 years, Cancer Research UK's work has helped to double survival rates.
The charity continues to fund 'world-class research' into prevention, detection, and treatment.
Mr Kennon said: "I’m very grateful to everyone who is sponsoring me.
"Every penny helps, especially in these difficult financial times."
Wragg Mark-Bell, based in Castle Street, Carlisle, is a partner for Cancer Research UK's will-writing service.
The firm will write your will free of charge if you make a donation to Cancer Research UK and/or leave the charity a legacy.
The suggested donation is £120 plus VAT for a single will or £170 plus VAT for mirror wills for a couple.
You can sponsor Mr Kennon at his fundraising page on the Cancer Research UK website.
