Egremont bare-knuckle boxer Agi Faulkner is aiming to become European champion this weekend.

The west Cumbrian heavyweight takes on Dawid Oskar in a top-of-the-bill fight in Newcastle on Saturday night.

Faulkner’s third BKFC fight sees an opportunity to win the inaugural European title.

He has earned his chance with back-to-back victories over Daniel Robson and Rob Cunningham in the last two years.

He now faces Polish-born Oskar, who has three wins and one defeat in the BKFC.

Faulkner, 34, has spoken of his excitement and confidence ahead of the big fight in the north east.

Speaking on Ross Allan’s In the Red Korner podcast, the Egremont boxer said: “I’m absolutely buzzing for it. Can’t wait.

“This is everything. This is what all these mornings, the training, everything I’ve put in is all down to this fight. This is it.

“All respect Dawid, but I’m coming for your head…”

Faulkner is bidding to become Cumbria’s second BKFC champion, following Carlisle’s Danny Christie, who last year won the British light-heavyweight title before moving to the middleweight division.

The Faulkner v Oskar fight is the main event at BKFC 68 Newcastle, with the card also featuring a British light-heavyweight title fight between Matthew Hodgson and Conor Cooke.

Oskar, 33, is a former MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter who debuted in the BKFC in April 2023. He has enjoyed victories over Lee Brown, Matty Hill and Conor Cooke and lost to Karl Thompson.

Faulkner’s two victories to date have come in the first round.

On his European title contest, he added: “This is the best [heavyweight] fight out there, I think. We’ve all seen how hard Oskar is and what he’s going to bring.

“I know you’ve seen me for all of 30-40 seconds, but it should be a brilliant fight.”

Faulkner is hoping the victory this weekend can propel him even further in the BKFC.

He wants to take on a top American fighter next year.

And the Egremont fighter says he is proud to represent Cumbria on the big stage.

“The support’s been absolutely brilliant from everyone,” he added.

“Everyone’s built different up here. If you can’t pagger you’re not from the Lakes!”

And on his confidence for the fight ahead, he added: “Put it this way – I’ve already put my screws on the wall for my belt…”
