AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 39-year-old Cockermouth man who was found dead by his father on a caravan park.
Benjamin Harper was found by Clive Harper at Brigham Holiday Park on August 22, 2024.
During a brief hearing at Cockermouth, the court heard that Mr Harper had gone to visit his son at the caravan park as he had not heard from him since 'some days earlier'.
Assistant coroner for Cumbria, Robert Cohen, said: "Upon arrival, he gained entry and then found Ben deceased in his bedroom.
"There was then an emergency response, but it was not possible to take any steps to resuscitate Ben.
"Subsequently, the acting Detective Inspector of Cumbria Police has provided a working hypothesis involving a suggestion that Ben may have consumed a significant quantity of alcohol."
Mr Cohen set a preliminary date for a final inquest hearing of February 4, 2025.
