A TAXI firm has raised over £2,000 so far as they run a charity fundraising initiative.
Carlisle Radio Taxis started the Christmas appeal to support various charities and organisations in the local area.
A spokesperson from the firm explained the motivation behind the initiative: “As a team, we wanted to reach out to as many different charities and organisations this Christmas to spread some joy around Carlisle.”
To kick off the appeal, the management team sought recommendations from staff, leading to the selection of several beneficiaries.
“We initially asked our staff for their own recommendations as to who we could help, which resulted in Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw being the first to be added, along with Morgan's Dog Rescue and Cash for Kids, which is a charity the company has been associated with for a long time,” the spokesperson added.
In addition to staff suggestions, the company also invited public input for the fundraiser.
“We then asked for the public's recommendations for any groups deserving of support, and that is when we added Carlisle Hospital, Every Life Matters, and Down Right Worthy, three fantastic groups who deserve a little treat this Christmas,” they said.
To fund the appeal, Carlisle Radio Taxis began with a generous donation of £500 from the management team.

The spokesperson outlined the fundraising mechanics: “We agreed that for every person booking a ride with us through our app, we would donate 50p to our appeal until November 20 when we'll reveal our final total.”
As part of the campaign, the company has also introduced a special promo code, allowing customers to save ten per cent on each ride while contributing to the fundraiser at no additional cost.
“So far, we've managed to raise over £2,000 for these organisations, which I'm sure will go a long way in helping those less fortunate this Christmas,” the spokesperson added.
Looking ahead, they said: “Remember, there's still time to give, just simply by booking a ride with Carlisle Radio Taxis.
“We've got everything crossed that we can raise £4,000 with the intention that the funds be shared equally in the form of cash donations, Christmas gifts, food parcels, and hopefully make some folk happy this festive season.”
