Teenage Carlisle boxer John Joe Carrigan has reached the World Under-19 Championship final.
The 17-year-old Cumbrian defeated his Indian opponent in the semi-finals in the USA.
Carrigan got the better of Sumit Sumit to earn a unanimous points decision from the judges in Colorado.
The Border City Amateur Boxing Club star now goes into Saturday's 70kg final, where he will take on Brazilian boxer Gabriel Dias Dos Santos.
Carrigan, representing England, is now on the brink of the biggest title yet, the Todhills teenager having already won a series of European and national belts.
He had already chalked up victories in the first round and quarter-finals of the major tournament in America.
Carrigan defeated Latvia's Arturs Vasila in the first round before seeing off Italian opponent Christian Karol Harpula in the last eight.
In his semi-final, he edged the judges' verdicts in two tight rounds before proving too sharp and elusive for Sumit in a third round which again saw the scoring in Carrigan's favour.
He will now take on a Brazilian opponent who defeated Australia's Diyanshu Redhu in the other semi-final.
Carrigan is a European youth and junior champion and a multiple national champion, and has already produced a series of victories for England.
He is believed to be the first young Cumbrian amateur boxer to be competing on this kind of world stage.
