Cumberland Council is set to start barrier improvement works on Georgian Way.
The improvements will be between Victoria Place junction and the Civic Centre in Carlisle.
The project will begin on Monday, November 4, and is expected to last three weeks, concluding on Friday, November 22, weather permitting.
The work will mainly be conducted from the grass verge, keeping the footpath open to reduce disruption.
While barriers are being delivered, pedestrians will be guided safely through the area by Cumberland Council staff.
The works will be conducted from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm, with no plans for weekend work.
The council has expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and cooperation and has issued an apology for any inconvenience caused.
Residents and businesses can report any issues online via the council's website or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
