PLANS to extend a Carlisle supermarket petrol filling station have been approved by planners at Cumberland Council.
It is for the existing facility at Morrisons, off Kingstown Road, and the project will involve the building and creation of a charging zone.
In addition, the plans involve the erection of EV chargers, the erection of a canopy, jet wash bays, a sub-station enclosure, an LV panel, a meter cabinet, a plant room and associated works.
Planning permission, which was granted on Monday (November 4), is subject to a number of planning conditions.
According to the recommendations and reasons report the principle of a supermarket on the site has already been assessed and established as acceptable since 1987.
It states: "The proposed development would provide a complementary service to the existing store and would not have an adverse impact upon the existing use of the site. The principle is therefore acceptable."
