A SHOP owner in Whitehaven has been presented with an award.
The Whitehaven Town Council awarded Rosina Harrison of Milltech Computers on James Street a Community Award.
This was given to Rosina for her work to improve the town and engage with the public.
Along with running the shop, she hosts an annual event displaying vintage cars which attracts people from across the country.
Her computer shop has also proved to be very popular over the years and is one of the few, locally owned, independent businesses in the town centre.
Chris Hayes of Whitehaven Town Council presented Rosina with the award, he said: "She runs the vintage car rally on the market and does lots for businesses in the town and the wider community, it is a very popular award.
"I wish I could present the award to every business in town, everyone in the shop was delighted, it was a real pleasure to do it.
"We're going to carry this on all year, we've given out around eight of these awards. It's just to say thank you to those people that go the extra mile."
Rosina Harrison added: "It was unexpected and they came along to the shop and gave me the award, it was a nice surprise.
"We just try to help everybody, we get a lot of older people coming into the shop and we help them as best as we can.
"Lots of people came to the car rally too, they had a great time and really enjoyed it, and they want to come back. It is one way of getting people into Whitehaven, it was good to do something for the community.
"Those who attended the rally were offered food and drink, and it turned out to be such a nice day.
"We've been here serving the people of Whitehaven now for thirty years."
