A popular restaurant in the Lake District has confirmed that it will close for a renovation period.

The Secret Garden, in Pooley Bridge, confirmed earlier this week on November 5 that the independent family-run bar and restaurant is now officially closed.

They wrote: "We are officially closed for some exciting new refurbishments.

"Work begins really soon and we have some epic plans to bring you The Secret Garden you love, but better."

There is not yet a date for reopening, but the restaurant, which offers indoor and outdoor seating close to the River Eamont, promises to keep customers updated with the refurbishment works ahead of a 'big reopening'.

The News & Star approached owners for comment but received no reply.
