A road in Carlisle is set to be resurfaced, causing potential delays.

The A7 Kingstown Road, between Moorville Drive and Lowry Hill Road, will see 'essential work' commence on Monday, November 18.

The project will involve temporary two-way traffic lights on Kingstown Road and a road closure on Lowry Hill Road.

According to Cumberland Council, the work is expected to take five days, weather permitting, and will be conducted from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with no weekend work planned.

The council has advised that access in the area may be disrupted at times, with some delays expected.

All traffic management will be removed outside of working hours with the aim of keeping disruption to a minimum.

The council has assured that vehicle access for residents and businesses will be maintained whenever possible, and has asked the public to discuss specific access needs with on-site staff.

Full access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists.

There is no planned disruption to recycling and waste collections, and information about bus stop relocations will be posted at current bus stops.

Passengers are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly for any queries regarding bus routes.

Cumberland Council has reminded the public that businesses will remain open as usual for the duration of the work, and has encouraged the community to continue supporting local businesses.

The council has also thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the project, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

For further information, residents and businesses can report online via the council's website or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
