A community event this weekend aims to bring people together through a unique and inclusive experience.

Carlisle One World Centre said the walk will take place this Saturday, November 9, as part of its themed year of Bridging Faith Communities in Carlisle.

The free event aims to connect people of different backgrounds by visiting ten places of worship within the city.

The route will cover approximately three miles and is designed to be accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs following pavements, road crossings and an underpass.

“All are welcome to join a very special community walk this Saturday,” a spokesperson for the Carlisle One World Centre said.

“The walk will connect 10 places of worship in Carlisle on a new route that will be no more than three miles in length.

"Walkers will have an opportunity to pay a short visit to the places of worship along the route where they will meet a host who may offer a short prayer or blessing to the group.”

The walk will begin at 2pm from St. George’s United Reformed Church on West Walls and conclude at the Uma Kadampa Meditation Centre on Spencer Street at around 4pm, where light refreshments will be available for all participants.

The route will include stops at various places of worship, including Carlisle Cathedral and St. Cuthbert's Church, as well as other religious sites such as the Quaker Meeting House on Fisher Street and Carlisle Mosque on Brook Street.
