PART of the M6 remains closed following a fatal crash yesterday (November 6).

As of this morning (November 7), only lanes one and two on the northbound carriageway have been reopened between junctions 32 and 33.

The southbound carriageway remains closed for resurfacing work, according to Lancashire Police.

The collision involved a HGV travelling northbound which crossed onto the southbound carriageway, overturning and colliding with several other vehicles at around 11.20am yesterday morning.

One person died and others were seriously injured.

In an update from Lancashire Police, they said: "Traffic is still expected to be heavy in this area until the full carriageways reopens.

"Please plan your journey accordingly and we will provide a further update once all lanes are reopened."

A spokesperson from National Highways said: "Complex recovery, clear up works and barrier repairs continue at the scene."
