A new book club is being launched to help business and charity leaders.
Ben Hickman, a business coach based in Carlisle, is launching Reflective Rebels, an alternative business book club designed to challenge conventional thinking and share different perspectives.
The club will gather monthly at the Kirklinton Hall café for up to two and a half hours to discuss the month’s book, exchange ideas, share opinions, and engage in debate.
The 38-year-old said: "I’m a coach and I work mainly one-to-one with people at the moment.
"A lot of what I do is about the person, rather than the business, so if the person is calm and confident, success in the business naturally follows."
"It won’t be your usual kind of business book; it’s about thinking differently.
"It’s aimed at people who are running businesses or in leadership positions.
"In a small, intimate group, we spark conversations that challenge traditional thinking and help you discover new insights about yourself and your leadership."
Mr Hickman notes that Bookends has agreed to provide a 20 percent discount to the book club.
He continued: "I want this book club to give you clarity, calm and confidence; you’re going to get some really different perspectives and some really different ways to think about things.
"I think you will get a little bit more joy in your life."
Monthly themes will include mindfulness and presence; vulnerability and leadership; happiness and joy; and integrating work and life.
The aim is to inspire attendees to think creatively, take action, and lead with heightened awareness.
The first book for discussion will be The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, covering mindfulness and presence, with members able to suggest future reads after the initial three.
