PATTERDALE Mountain Rescue has responded to an incident on Striding Edge.
The team was alerted to a casualty with an underlying medical condition who had become crag fast while scrambling with their partner.
In a post on social media, Patrerdale MRT wrote: "The team leader contacted their partner, and it became evident the casualty required a stretcher evacuation and the Team were called out.
"Due to their location at the far end of the Edge part way up the exit ramp onto Helvellyn, and the casualty’s condition, the assistance of a Coastguard rescue helicopter was also requested.
"The rescue helicopter made several attempts to access Red Tarn and the Grisedale Valley, but low cloud and the lack of wind prevented it from winching or landing, and eventually it returned to its base at Caernarfon.
"Team members reached the the woman and her partner at about 6.30pm. They assessed her condition and packaged her in a stretcher before beginning the protracted lower down the southeast end of the Helvellyn headwall above Red Tarn.
"Once at the bottom the stretcher was carried, sledged and wheeled around the tarn and then down to Greenside Mines."
The team was also called out to a walker with a leg injury on Ullswater.
The casualty had been walking with his wife on the east side of the lake, when they had slipped and been unable to continue.
The post added: "The team arrived on scene and the injury was stabilised with a splint. The casualty was then taken by stretcher to a nearby team Landrover and he was taken to the base for onward travel to hospital via land ambulance. The rescue lasted three hours and involved 10 team members.
