Services to mark Armistice Day have taken place at the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital this morning.
Patients, staff and veterans gathered at both sites to honour those who have been impacted by war across the world and reflect on the sacrifices made and lives that have been lost.
At CIC, Reverend Jane Nattrass led the service with words by Dave Patterson, who is chair of the Staff Armed Forces Network, and Imam Abdur Rashid Meah.
After the sounding of the Last Post and the silence, Chief Nurse Jill Foster and veteran Gillian McDougall laid two wreaths under the flagpole outside CIC.

The wreaths read: “For those who sacrificed so much for our future,” and “With gratitude and in remembrance from the NCIC chaplains and Armed Forces Network.”
A service was also held at Penrith Hospital last week and over the weekend staff from many wards wore their poppies with pride and also marked a minute’s silence at 11am on Sunday
