BBC Radio Two DJ and comedian, Paddy McGuinness is set to cycle through Penrith and Cumbria on Wednesday, November 13 as part of his epic charity ride.

Paddy is attempting to cycle almost 300 miles from Wrexham AFC to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper to raise much needed funds for BBC children in need.

Tuesday was Paddy’s longest day in the saddle, with him having to ride an epic 68 miles.

His route began from Moor Park in Preston, before going onto Blackpool Promenade, through Lancashire, crossing the River Wyre, passing Lancaster Castle, into Cumbria to Barrows Green with a hill climb of 200 feet, into the Lake District where he finished in Kendal.

Paddy will begin in Kendal, before cycling to Penrith and Carlisle before finishing north of the Border.

His route through Carlisle will see him travel through the heart of the city passing major landmarks.

Throughout the route, crowds have lined the streets waiting to see Paddy and whilst there is no planned time he is set to arrive in Carlisle, people are encouraged to listen to Radio Two or follow the online tracker for regular updates.

On Tuesday morning, Zoe Ball on the Radio Two Breakfast Show asked Paddy how he felt when he got to his room on Monday evening.

“Paddy said: “I realised, it dawned on me, because I’ve got a blister on my right bum cheek, which isn’t the best, but it really dawned on me I feel really lucky, actually like I’ve dropped the lottery because when I set off yesterday, with the first 30 miles, I don’t think there was a bit where there wasn’t somebody on the road, and that’s 30 miles.

“And then it started getting dark, it went into the night and people were still lining the streets, and I just thought, who gets a chance to do this and you’ve got the added bonus of raising money for Children in Need at the same time.

“So I feel really lucky, really privileged.”
