Sebergham Bridge is set to close next week for five days for repair work.
Cumberland Council has announced that the bridge will be completely shut to all traffic, including emergency vehicles, from Monday, November 18, until Friday, November 22, between 8am and 5pm, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary following an incident that caused substantial damage to the bridge's parapet wall.
Currently, temporary traffic lights are in place to manage safe passage for vehicles.
However, full repairs require a complete closure of the bridge.
During the closure, a signed diversion route will be established.
Residents should note that waste collections will be affected during this period.
The diversion route is unsuitable for collection vehicles, so any missed collections will be resumed the following week.

Cumberland Council has expressed gratitude to the community for their patience and cooperation during the repair process.
The council has also apologised for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
Further information can be obtained online via the council's website, or by contacting the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
