Carlisle has been named as the most welcoming city in the UK for tourists, according to a recent study.
6.3 per cent of all reviews for Carlisle on Tripadvisor mentioned that they were made to feel welcome by local people.
The five most welcoming cities for tourists were found to be Carlisle, Exeter, Plymouth, Norwich, and Aberdeen.
The study, conducted by Casino, analysed 2.3 millions reviews made for hotels, restaurants, and attractions in 30 cities across the UK looking at those that mentioned that they felt welcomed.
Carlisle's hotels in particular were highlighted as being the most welcoming with 8.8 per cent of reviews saying so, beating Bath with 8.82 per cent of reviews.
The city's restaurants were named as second most welcoming after Plymouth with 6.4 per cent of reviews mentioning the welcoming feeling.
The top five cities where people feel the least welcome are London, Edinburgh, York, Portsmouth, and Glasgow.
