FOR this Nostalgia edition we wanted to take a look at World Philosophy Day.
World Philosophy Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of November each year.
It is a UNESCO lead day which underlines the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual.
Philosophy is an inspiring discipline as well as an everyday practice that can transform societies.
It helps to stimulate intellectual dialogue by enabling people to discover different cultures.
UNESCO supports the teaching of philosophy for children and has described the inclusion of philosophy in education as ‘a significant contribution to quality education’.
The group help to bring awareness of philosophy into the public eye through the help of volunteer philosophers.
World Philosophy Day was established by UNESCO in 2008 as a way to support and promote the teaching of philosophy to children.
