FOR this Nostalgia edition we will be taking a look at Thanksgiving.
Whilst Thanksgiving is an American holiday that is not celebrated here in the UK, these photos show how Cumbrians have had their own festivals of Thanksgiving for different reasons over the years.
It is a US national holiday which is a celebration of the successful harvest and other blessings of the past year.
It has historical roots dating back to the early 17th century when the Pilgrims and Native Americans came together for a harvest feast to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and cooperation.
It marks the beginning of the holiday season, leading up to Christmas and New Year’s.
Thanksgiving has deep historical roots in American culture, tracing back to the early days of European settlers in North America. The holiday’s origins are often associated with the Pilgrims and their feast with Native Americans in 1621 to celebrate a successful harvest.
