Stagecoach has shared updates to its services, including the 300.
The bus company has doubled the frequency of the 300 service, which runs between Carlisle and Workington via Wigton, Aspatria, and Maryport.
Buses now depart every half hour "for much of the day" from Monday to Saturday, and hourly on Sundays.
Most journeys continue beyond Workington as service 30 to Whitehaven and then either Egremont and Thornhill or Cleator Moor and Frizington.
Tom Waterhouse, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: "These timetable changes represent a major enhancement to what is already one of our most popular bus routes.
"We know existing customers will welcome the increased frequency and we hope the convenience of having more journeys will encourage non-bus users to hop on the 300 and leave their cars at home.
"Using the bus is better for the environment, helps to cut traffic congestion, and is much easier on your pocket.
"Under the national fare-cap scheme the maximum adult fare is £2, which makes the bus a fantastic bargain.
"You would pay more than £2 to park a car, never mind the cost of fuel."
The fare cap allows passengers to travel all the way from Frizington or Thornhill to Carlisle, as well as all points in between including Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport, Aspatria, and Wigton, for £2.
Pensioners and other concessions can travel free with a NoWcard.
The 300 could suit those commuting to work, including shift workers, because buses run throughout the day from early morning to late at night, said a spokesperson.
The first bus from Workington to Carlisle on weekdays is at 4.16am, and the first from Whitehaven is at 4.53am, while the last bus back from Carlisle is at 10.15pm (to Whitehaven) and 11.15pm (to Workington).
Mr Waterhouse added: "The new timetable makes the bus a viable option whether you’re travelling to work, shopping, medical appointments, or just having a day out.
"With the Christmas party season almost upon us, taking the bus is a great move because nobody has to miss out by being the designated driver."
The enhancements to the 300 have been funded by Cumberland Council as part of the first phase of a £2.5 million package of bus service improvements.
Some other times changed on November 4, including adjustments to the 400 from Carlisle to Silloth and the 600 to Cockermouth to fit in with the new 300 schedule, while Lake District services moved to a winter timetable.
