Greystoke handler Nicky Richards had a fine afternoon north of the border at Ayr Racecourse on - but his winner on the day won’t be sticking around much longer.

Castle Carrock was a very handy 16-length winner of the card-closing bumper contest but is now all set to head to the sales.

A fine-looking prospect indeed, Castle Carrock will now be moved on with Richards having done his job and got the five-year-old off the winning mark on debut and now owner Rob Bewley will be moving the runner on.

Speaking to Racing TV free bet offers after watching his charge cruise to a wide-length success, Richards said: “He quickened away nicely from two and  half furlongs down, he put the race to bed easily.

“He was ready to run today. We haven't done a lot with him, he was a grand horse when he came, we have done some work just to get him relaxed and he's doing that now.

“He went down the gate very professionally and did a very professional job.

“He’ll be on the market now, they [the owners] do that quite a bit, they have a nice one to sell there.”

Richards will be aiming for more success this weekend when he sends Florida Dreams to the West Country to take his place in the Greatwood Hurdle, the feature race of the three-day November Meeting at Cheltenham.

Florida Dreams is currently a best-price 25/1 to land the £56,270 top prize in the class one Premier Handicap contest and jockey Danny McMenamin, who steered Castle Carrock to success, is booked to ride down at Cheltenham.

The Fergal O’Brien-trained Dysart Enos currently leads the market at 3/1, a winner of a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree and was last seen winning a class three novices hurdle at Doncaster in ready fashion.

Richards has been in fine form over the past week, having landed a Carlisle graduation chase with Nell’s Son earlier this week and added two seconds on the Ayr card to go with the win in the bumper at the end of the day.
