A couple has celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Gordon and Dorothy Savage, residents of Winters Park Care Home in Penrith, marked this milestone on November 14.
The couple met in 1954 at Newton Rigg Agriculture College in Penrith, where they fell in love at first sight.
On November 14, 1959, they tied the knot at St Andrew's Church in Burton-on-Stather.
The couple has three daughters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Reflecting on their long and happy marriage, they shared the secret behind their lasting bond.
They said: "The secret to a long and happy marriage is love and tolerance."
Dorothy added: "We never went to bed on an argument – this is the golden rule of the long marriage."
Following their marriage, the couple farmed and resided at Pears Ghyll, Calthwaite, before relocating to Bank End and Cherry Trees in Hesket Newmarket.
Mr Savage now resides at Winters Park Care Home, where Mrs Savage and their daughters visit regularly.
The care home organised a special date for the couple's 65th anniversary, complete with a meal, cake, and a romantic atmosphere.
Egle Orante, activities coordinator at HC-One Winters Park Care Home, said: "We’re delighted to be able to evidence such a wonderful anniversary, it is truly remarkable to organise and celebrate this special occasion."
Winters Park Care Home is run by HC-One.
It provides residential and dementia care for 40 people.
