M&S's Carlisle branch is now part of the supermarket's scheme to enable customers to recycle beauty packaging.
The Beauty Takeback Scheme, launched in June 2023 as part of M&S's green efforts, invites customers to recycle plastic or aluminium beauty packaging - including bottles, tubes, caps, pumps, and tubs (from any retailer) - by dropping the packaging into dedicated boxes at stores.
These boxes are now available in the Carlisle branch.
The scheme, created in partnership with HANDLE, has reportedly collected upwards of 1.6 tonnes of beauty packaging so far.
Kevin Bishop, store manager at M&S Carlisle, said: "At M&S Carlisle we want to play our part in driving a more circular economy by creating simple solutions that help our customers live lower carbon lives.
"Since launching last year, the Beauty Takeback scheme has proved hugely popular and we’re delighted to be able to offer the initiative to Northwest shoppers."
M&S's other eco-friendly efforts include a clothes donation partnership with Oxfam.
