Gilsland Spa Hotel has been sold for £800,000 at auction.
The historic property was sold on Thursday November 14 for £800,000 following a bidding war between three potential buyers that lasted just over an hour.
The starting bid was made at £600,000 and each bidder put down an extra £5,000 or £10,000 up to the final bid.
It was originally listed with a guide price of £650,00 by auctioneers Town and Country Property Auctions.
The 93-bedroom hotel sits on 10 acres of land with extensive gardens and woodland on the property.
Gilsland Spa was previously listed for sale in 2019 for £1.5 million after then owner Northern Powerhouse Developments filed for administration.
It then closed in 2021 for renovations with a view for it to re-open in spring 2022 as a luxury five star country house hotel - however it has been closed since.
