THE Viceroy has been named News & Star 'Best Curry House 2024'.
The restaurant, which is located in Carlisle's Linton House on Shaddongate has been named the best curry house in the region by News & Star readers.
Ten local curry houses were chosen by readers as finalists in the competition and were fiercely supported by their fans across the two-week voting period.
However, after counting all the votes, The Viceroy has emerged victorious.
Co-owner Alamgir Ali has been at the helm at The Viceroy for a number of years as he continues the family business which was initially opened by his father and local Bangladeshi cuisine pioneer Sukur Ali in 1991, and was delighted with the award win.
Carlisle who still feel The Viceroy is their number one curry house after all these years.
He said: "To win this award makes me feel extremely grateful. Grateful to the people of"The award was solely down to public vote and it gives me great reassurance that we are still doing the correct things to provide a great place for our locals to meet, to eat, to celebrate special occasions, create memories, and just have a good time together.
"I'm also delighted for our team who work tirelessly to make The Viceroy number one in Carlisle."
For Alamgir, The Viceroy excels in several different areas, from its unique and creative range of tasty curries to its hardworking staff that have helped it claim the News & Star's 'Best Curry House 2024' crown.
He said: "One of the keys to The Viceroy’s continued success over the years is we continue to evolve our restaurant with the times.
"We try to be imaginative and creative. We don't follow trends, we create trends and try to be innovators in our industry.
