Cumbria Police have issued a warning to motorists after temperatures dropped to below freezing overnight.
Temperatures are set to get as low as minus seven degrees on Tuesday evening and police have urged motorists to ‘drive to the conditions’.
This is the advice they have given:
- Leave extra time for travel – and always drive according to the conditions and any advice given out on road signs.
- Be aware of the weather warning and drive with caution. Listen to travel updates
- Take care when walking outside – paths may be slippery.
Police have also warned motorists about the dangers of black ice on the road.

“Please be aware black ice may be effecting our county's roads and ensure you drive to the road and weather conditions.”
