Two vintage furniture enthusiasts have released their first book made up of old found photographs.
Damian Sealey and Mark Howlette, who run Absolutely Nice Vintage in Carlisle, released their book, 'Lot 455', after finding a set of photographs at local auction H&H earlier this year.
The photographs, which were originally brought in as part of a house clearance, were taken by Norman Fairlam in the late 1940s while he was in Tripoli, Libya, assisting in the setting up of an airport.
Mr Sealey said: "Part of the allure of these discarded memories is wondering why the person behind the camera captured these moments specifically."
After sharing the photographs on their Instagram page, Mr Sealey and Mr Howlette were inundated with responses.
One commenter suggested they make a book.
Mr Howlette said: "The photographs capture beautiful, intimate moments of Norman’s family life with wife Bessie and son Malcolm."
They worked on curating and designing their book in collaboration with Vincent Walden, a long-time design partner of theirs.
They have since contacted the photographer's grandson, who provided further insight on the photographs.
The photographer, Mr Fairlam, was born in Haltwhistle in 1911 and retired as head of air traffic control at Newcastle Airport in the 1970s.
He lived in and around Newcastle after his time in Tripoli and passed away in 2005.
'Lot 455' is available to buy via absolutelynice.co.uk or by appointment from their studio in the Atlas Works.
