A CUMBRIAN singing duo will take to the stage at the county's most prestigious business awards later this month - with their path back home being one filled with 'smooth sailing'.

The Darts, made up of husband and wife duo Luke and Megan Dart, provide entertainment for any setting imaginable.

Both trained in London at prestigious conservatoires, Luke at the MTA, a notoriously high-expectation musical theatre academy, and Megan at the London College of Music, a specialist school within the University of West London.

Megan, who is originally from Carlisle, met Essex-born Luke while the pair were working on the cruise ship Marella Explorer 2.

With the pair visiting Cumbria between contracts at sea, they eventually decided that this would be the place that they would settle, after they were done sailing around the world.

Most recently, the duo have finished their first contract onboard the flagship from luxury brand Explora Journeys, an arm of the MSC Group, having been head-hunted to be part of the inaugural cast.

The Darts are well aware of how lucky they are to be able to share their talents with cruise passengers from around the world, as well as being able to come home and perform for the people of Cumbria.

"We have constantly felt welcomed wherever we go, and that is what makes this part of the country extremely special - it’s always nice to come home."

The Darts will perform next Friday, November 29 at the In-Cumbria magazine business awards, set for the first time at Dalston Hall.

Speaking about the awards, the duo said: "Having the opportunity to perform in front of Cumbria’s very best at the In-Cumbria Business Awards is second-to-none - how lucky are we to be able to showcase our passion for the businesses who share their passions with the people of Cumbria day in day out."
