TWO Cumbrian railway stations have been ranked in the top 10 'least used' in the North West- in a report from the Office for Rail and Road.
Braystones railway station, which serves the villages of Beckermet and Braystones and Nethertown, which serves the village of Nethertown in Cumbria have been ranked in the top ten 'least used' railway stations in the north west.
The railway stations, which are both part of the Cumbrian Coast line between Barrow-in-Furness and Carlisle have been ranked based on the number of entries and exits between April 2023 and March 2024.
Nethertown was in seventh place with 1,030 entries and exits over the year long period, with Braystones in ninth place with 1,532 entries and exits.
The busiest station in the North West was found to be Manchester Piccadilly with 25.8m entries and exits between April 2023 and March 2024.
Feras Alshaker, Director, Planning and Performance at the Office of Rail and Road, said: 'These statistics provide crucial insights for passengers, the rail industry and its stakeholders and demonstrate clearly how travel patterns are changing across the country."
