We're highlighting the shortlisted coffee shops in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.

Espresso Hub has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Coffee Shop 2024' award.

The coffee shop is located on Carlisle's St. Albans Row and is run by owner Cath Bell who opened the cafe in 2019.

Espresso Hub is also overseen by supervisor Chris Beaty, who was on hand to express his delight after being informed that the coffee shop has been chosen by News & Star readers to feature in the final ten of the 'Best Coffee Shop 2024' award.

He said: "We are over the moon to be nominated.

"We try to make everybody that walks through the door feel welcome and like our extended family.

"To hear that people have voted for us is absolutely fantastic, we couldn't ask for more.

"It means a lot to us, It makes us really happy to know that people who are coming to see us are enjoying what we do and all we want is to make sure we give them the best food and drink we can and it is nice that they see that."

For Chris, Espresso Hub has become a local favourite not only due to its freshly made food and quality coffee but also thanks to its focus on community and making every single customer feel part of its wider family.

He said: "We serve the freshest possible, everything is made fresh and we serve what I think is the best coffee in Carlisle as well as other drinks.

"I really think that we just make people feel welcome and you can walk here in for two or three days in a row and after the third day we will remember your coffee and your name.

"We want to know about everybody who walks through the door, we will ask people how their day is going, make sure they are alright, have a laugh with them, have a crack with them, we just want everybody walking back out with a smile on their face."
