PUPILS at Lanercost Church of England Primary School have been inspired after a visit by representatives from Junior Park Run.
The students welcomed the representatives to the school on Monday, November 18, and were spoken to about the benefits of regular exercise for both mental and physical health.
The session included a presentation that highlighted the positive impact of staying active and the pupils learned how running and other forms of exercise can boost mood, improve focus, and support overall well-being.
After the talk, the enthusiasm continued as the children took part in their very own Park Run around Lanercost Cricket Club.
Sarah Hamilton, a representative from Junior Park Run, speaking after the event, said: "The children and staff at Lanercost really embraced what Junior Park Run is all about – having fun, getting active outdoors, and being a part of the local community.
"It was a joy to see, and I’m looking forward to engaging with more local schools."
The school's student sports ambassadors also expressed their excitement about the visit.
They said: "It was fantastic to bring such a large organisation to our small school. We had so much fun, and it’s inspired us to keep going."
The event has sparked a new wave of interest in Junior Park Run at Lanercost CE Primary School, with many pupils now planning to attend the regular Sunday event at Bitts Park in Carlisle.
Headteacher Lexi Wilkinson added: "We are so grateful to Junior Park Run for visiting and inspiring our children. The joy and motivation on their faces showed just how much this meant to them."
"Lanercost CE Primary School hopes this event will encourage the children to continue their fitness journey and explore new ways to stay active.
"With such enthusiasm, it seems the future of running is bright in this small but mighty community."
