Residents are being advised to expect large vehicles moving throughout Carlisle next week.

Cumberland Council issued the alert as construction continues on the Carlisle Southern Link Road.

From Monday, November 25, to Friday, November 29, vehicles will be travelling from the M6, down the A689, to Newby West Roundabout.

Some vehicles will carry abnormal loads, potentially causing unfamiliar noise and traffic disruptions.

The council advises motorists to plan accordingly and consider alternative routes.

A spokesperson said: "We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

November marks the 18th month of construction on the 8km long road, which is set to support the delivery of St Cuthbert's Garden Village, a 10,000-home plan.

Construction work on the Carlisle Southern Link Road began in June 2023 and is due for completion in late 2025.
