A COMPANY called PopupIndie is looking for like-minded retailers to support their idea of pop-up shops around the UK.
The idea is that stores with space to host a pop-up would work with them to stage several popup experiences by smaller and emerging businesses in their area and it's an idea that has been hard at work in West Cumbria for several years.
Richardson's of Whitehaven among other businesses in the central Lakes has hosted smaller or just complimentary businesses for over a decade and Gerard Richardson highly recommends the experience.
He said: "Hosting a complimentary business really can be done in any size shop and apart from the good company you get for the day, it also broadens the offer to your own customers for the day, and it is extremely satisfying.
"We've hosted everything from Fudge makers to producers of unique gifts over the years and last year, in a really special move, Louise my long-time colleague and best friend asked if she could share some space for her own business.
"LouLous Wall Art which makes indoor and outdoor wreaths for all seasons as well as unique ideas like using children’s booties as flower pots has become a firm fixture and is popular with existing shop clients as well as helping bring us to the attention of her own customers.
"We are also planning something very special with fellow town trader Carmine from the Howling Wolf so watch this space, but I would heartily recommend the idea to retailers all over West Cumbria."
