A classic Noel Coward comedy, Blithe Spirit, is set to entertain audiences at Workington's Theatre Royal.
Performed by the Workington Playgoers, the show will run from December 4 to 7.
The original West End production ran for almost five-years and has been revived numerous times.
Dubbed 'an improbable farce' by Coward himself, the play centres around Charles Condomine, played by Geoffrey Hall.
As a crime-writing novelist, Condomine arranges a séance for research purposes, only for things to take an unexpected turn.
Madame Arcati, the eccentric medium played by Jenni Rushton, who also directs the show, accidentally summons Condomine’s deceased first wife, Elvira, portrayed by Sarah Delorme.
Visible only to him, Elvira stirs up chaos between Condomine and his current wife, Ruth, played by Jane Douglas.
Their friends, Dr and Mrs Bradman, played by Ruth Hellen and Marc Baillie, attend the séance, oblivious to the domestic mayhem.
Meanwhile, Edith, the maid, played by Nicola Woodier, often finds herself at the receiving end of Elvira’s antics.
The play is celebrated for Coward's witty and comical storytelling and promises plenty of laughs.
