Carlisle’s The Dhaka restaurant is set to reopen under new management.

The Indian restaurant on London Road will be welcoming customers back with a new look and menu.

Jamal Din, the new owner, has been living in Carlisle for 16 years and is originally from Leeds but has worked most of his life in the city's hospitality industry.

It is reopening following a complete three-week overhaul including a new menu, promising a blend of 'old-school dishes in a modern setting'.

“We’ve been working 24 hours a day for the past three weeks trying to get everything ready," Jamal said.

"It will be a completely new menu and new décor,  even drinks and desserts - everything will be completely different. It will be classic old-school dishes but in a new modern setting.

“Carlisle feels like home now. The customers I've met over the years have become like family, and that’s the kind of atmosphere we want to create here," he said.

Unlike many restaurants that opt for set menus and deposits during the holiday season, The Dhaka is taking a more relaxed approach.

“Wherever you go around Christmas time and New Year's Eve, it is all set meals. We won’t be doing set meals or deposits, it’s just going to become in and eat whatever you like.

“We look forward to welcoming new customers and previous customers of The Dhaka," he said.

The Dhaka will also be open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day from 12pm to 6pm, and New Year’s Eve with a regular menu however booking is advised.

Regular hours will be weekdays from 4.30pm to 10.30pm, and weekends until 11pm.

The restaurant is currently looking for experienced bar and front-of-house staff to join their team.
