PLANS have been lodged to convert an agricultural barn into a new farm shop just off the A6 near Penrith.
Mr Ben Taylor of Plumpton Old Hall Farm, Plumpton, has submitted an application to Westmorland and Furness Council to turn a stone barn adjoining land on the farm into a farm shop and associated car parking area.
The application form says that the total area subjected to the proposal is greater than 150 square metres, but less than one thousand.
It says that there are no highways issues envisaged as the proposed development site is 'in excess of 75 metres from the public highway and will be accessed via an existing farm road'.

The form also states that there would be no noise contamination envisaged as the nearest residential property to the farm is over 100 metres away and is 'well screened by existing farm buildings and trees'.
The application is currently being considered by Westmorland and Furness Council planners.
